In a historic move, WPL (Women's Premier League) is set to commence in March 2023. After the success of the men's IPL, WPL is all set to be the first women's league hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). 5 teams have been selected for WPL, and all were sold in an auction on 25th January 2021, where Adani-owned Sports Line Private Limited became the highest bidder at Rs 1239 crore for the Ahmedabad franchise. The WPL has already shattered records as it crossed the amount generated by in 2008. WPL will be the right step towards encouraging more women to represent their country through cricket and inspiring future generations.
