Sydney's original home of sports, the SCG stadium or the Sydney Cricket Ground, is a sports stadium in Australia. The SCG stadium hosts Test, One Day International (ODI), T20 cricket, Australian rules Football, Rugby league, Rugby union, and association Football. The SCG stadium is the home ground for the Sydney Sixers of the Big Bash League, the Sydney Swans, and the New South Wales Blues cricket team. It is also the short-term home of the Sydney Roosters of the National Rugby League and the NSW Waratahs of Super Rugby. The SCG stadium is owned and managed by the Sydney Cricket Ground Trust. The Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) will host 7 matches of the ICC Men’s T20 Cup 2022 in addition to a Semi-Final on November 9.

The Sydney Cricket Ground was the venue of the second semi-final of the 1992 World Cup, where South Africa was given an impossible target to chase 21 runs off one ball after rain interrupted play. India scored their then highest total in tests of 705/7 in 2004 on this ground.

Defending champions Australia will play at the SCG stadium in the opening match of the Super 12 on Saturday, 22 October in a rematch of the 2021 Final against rivals, New Zealand on 9 November.

"Even if the Sydney Cricket Ground is the last cricket ground in the world, the Sydney Cricket Ground will not have a drop-in wicket. We don't believe that any drop-in wicket works as well as a traditional cricket wicket." Cavalier said.
