He is the second player to do this after Virat Kohli. In IPL 2023, Shikhar Dhawan replaced Mayank Agarwal as the captain of the Punjab Kings IPL team.

In 2008, Shikhar Dhawan was not a famous cricketer. Nevertheless, he earned an IPL contract with Delhi Daredevils. He was bought for Rs 12 lakh by a star-studded Delhi team.
