RCB vs GT is a must-win game for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who will want to reach the playoffs for a fourth successive season. The home side could seal a place in the playoffs with a victory against Gujarat Titans (GT), provided that Mumbai Indians fail to pick up points against Sunrisers Hyderabad or they don’t win by a margin.

GT is top of the points table and will aim to grab a tenth win in the league stage. The match will be held at Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday at 7:30 PM.

RCB vs GT | Preview | Team Analysis & Squad Details

Let’s closely examine RCB vs GT – team analysis, squad, head-to-head record, and prediction.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

With Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, and Glenn Maxwell in fine touch, RCB’s playoff hopes look promising. On Thursday, the RCB skipper and Kohli were instrumental in the victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). As the playing conditions in Bengaluru favor batters, it gives the RCB faithful plenty of confidence heading into the fixture.

Mohammed Siraj and Wayne Parnell have a big responsibility on their shoulders. The duo can pick up wickets in the powerplay and must grab the advantage early in the match. However, the pacers and Michael Bracewell will have a challenge on their hands in the batting-friendly Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Gujarat Titans (GT)

Hardik Pandya might be resting some players, including himself, against RCB. Shubman Gill, a few runs short of 600 this season, is the key player in the playing 11. The young batter is a delight to watch and has plenty of quality cricketers around him. David Miller and Hardik Pandya stand tall in the batting lineup.

Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan top the Purple Cap race. With 23 wickets, both have been the most consistent players across the league. Medium-pacer Mohit Sharma and young Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad, too, lived up to their billing. Overseas players Odean Smith and Matthew Wade could feature in the playing 11 on Sunday.

Head-to-Head – RCB vs GT

Both teams haven’t met many times in IPL. In the two meetings so far, RCB and GT grabbed a win each. Virat Kohli has struck a half-century – 58 and 73 – in RCB’s both matches against the defending champions.

IPL 2023 Stats – RCB & GT

  • Most Runs: Faf du Plessis – 702 runs (RCB); Shubman Gill – 576 runs (GT)
  • Total Wickets: Mohammed Siraj – 17 wickets (RCB); Mohammed Shami & Rashid Khan – 23 wickets (GT)
  • Most Sixes: Faf du Plessis – 36 sixes (RCB); Shubman Gill – 14 sixes (GT)

Winner Prediction – RCB vs GT

If the RCB trio comes good, the three-time IPL runner-up could pick up two points and most likely set up a clash with Lucknow Super Giants in the eliminator. With GT expected to rest a few players, it will likely increase RCB’s chance of two points. The home side could beat GT on Sunday.

Final Thoughts on RCB vs GT

This season’s last league stage fixture promises to be a nerve-wracking affair. RCB, desperate for two points, will fight until the last ball. Meanwhile, GT is a team with a winning mentality. The defending champions, who will finish top of the points table, are unlikely to let their guard down.
