LSG vs MI is the second meeting between both teams in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and will see one of these teams exit the 16th edition. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) sealed their playoff spot after a thrilling one-run win against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Mumbai Indians (MI), on the other hand, reached playoffs thanks to their eight-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bangalore’s failure to pick up two points against Gujarat Titans.

The IPL 2023 Eliminator clash will be held at Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on Wednesday at 7:30 PM.

LSG vs MI | Preview | Team Analysis & Squad Details

Let’s analyze LSG vs MI – teams, squads, head-to-head record, and prediction.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

Kyle Mayers could return to the playing 11 in place of Naveen-ul-Haq, who went wicketless and conceded 46 runs in four overs against KKR. The Caribbean batter has scored a 22-ball 53 at Chidambaram Stadium this season. Mayers and De Kock are destructive and can pile misery on a disjointed MI bowling attack.

Marcus Stoinis, LSG’s leading run-scorer this season, and Nicholas Pooran add more strength and firepower in the middle order. Also, LSG can rely on its stand-in captain Krunal Pandya and 23-year-old Ayush Badoni to bail them out if a crisis arises.

If Naveen-ul-Haq fails to make the playing 11, the onus will be on Avesh Khan and the spin trio. On a slow track, Ravi Bishnoi, Krunal Pandya, and Krishnappa Gowtham are expected to trouble the in-form MI batting lineup.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

Will MI’s batting unit come to their aid yet again? The MI faithful will hope that the batters will come up with a gritty display on a difficult pitch. Suryakumar Yadav and Cameron Green are two batters to watch out for in the MI playing 11. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma seems to have found his rhythm after his outstanding knock in the must-win game against (SRH). Ishan Kishan, Nehal Wadhera, and Tim David have contributed significantly this season.

MI doesn’t have a powerplay specialist in their bowling department. The pacers, who haven’t had an excellent campaign, struggled to find breakthroughs early in the innings. However, Akash Madhwal was outstanding in the victory over SRH. He took four wickets in the death overs and restricted MI to 200. Piyush Chawla is expected to make a huge impact in Chennai. The 34-year-old has 20 wickets at an economy of 7.81 in 14 matches.
