As always, the English summer is set to bring a lot of excitement and thrill for cricket lovers and punters. The number one Twenty20 International (T20) side in the world, England, will take on the number 4 side, Pakistan, in a three-match T20 series in July this year. These matches are a part of the Pakistan tour of England, which will also see both the teams playing three One-Day Internationals (ODIs).
Coming as it does in the midst of the COVID-19 induced pandemic, the Pakistan vs England series will also cause some anxiety to players, organizers, spectators, and punters. But, it seems that all arrangements have been made for the series, as England has played a host of international matches recently, including the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) between India and New Zealand.
The PCB threw quite a few surprises when it announced the squad. For example, it has named Azam Khan (son of former player Moin Khan) and who’s so far uncapped in the T20 squad. Since Azam has played only one first-class match, his selection took a lot of people by surprise. Those who favour him say that he can hit sixes, which will come in handy in the game’s shortest format.
As we said, COVID-19 will continue to impact the world of cricket. Days after naming Haider Ali in the squad, the PCB dropped him from the tour of England because Haider had broken the social distancing protocols of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Haider admitted that he had met people outside of his designated bio-bubble.
Right-handed batsman, Sohaib Maqsood, will replace Ali. However, Sohaib last played a T-20 for Pakistan more than five years ago.
While the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced their squad for the T-20 series, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is yet to make the announcement. Obviously, bettors are excited to know who will make the final line-up and who won’t.
Although England’s T-20 side is not announced yet, they have many talented players like Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Eoin Morgan, and Sam Curran, who can win a match from any situation. On the other hand, while being erratic, the Pakistani team also has players who can beat anyone on their day.
The T20 series between these teams is definitely going to be an interesting one. Continue reading this space because our betting experts at will bring you a lot of insights as the series begins.

Facts you should know about Pakistan’s and England’s recent performances
Facts About Pakistan & England’s Performance | Image source: circleofcricket.com
- England lost a T20 series to India by 2-3 earlier this year. It was a part of England’s dismal tour of India, where they lost all the three series, Tests, ODIs, and T20, to the host nation. That said, England should definitely be a bigger threat to Pakistan in home conditions.
- England have already won the ongoing T20 series against Sri Lanka, as they are 2-0 ahead.
- England had also beaten Australia by 2-1 in a T20 series, which was played in England. This again underscores the point that England are a formidable team in home conditions, especially in the T20 format.
- In a recent T20 series, Pakistan beat the minnows, Zimbabwe, by 2-1. Prior to that, Pakistan had lost a T20 series to New Zealand by 2-1 in 2020.
- While touring overseas, Pakistan has beaten South Africa by 3-1 in a T20 series this year, which should give them some confidence. However, Pakistan’s biggest problem in all forms of cricket is their unpredictability. If they can get a hold of that, the upcoming series against England will be an exciting contest.
